Rahul Vijay is a writer and director who traded a career in computer engineering for the art and craft of screenwriting. This unique path gives him a distinct perspective: he approaches the architecture of storytelling with the analytical mind of a programmer, but explores his characters with the comedic timing and deep vulnerability honed over a decade as a stand-up and improv comedian.
That journey—from a practical, immigrant upbringing to a creative life—informs everything he writes. He tells character-driven dramedies about people caught between conflicting worlds, exploring themes of identity, family, and the messy, often hilarious, search for where you belong. His work has been recognized as a Quarterfinalist in both the Academy Nicholl Fellowship and the Final Draft Big Break Contest.
He is always interested in connecting with fellow creators and collaborators.
